Using IT in University

The campus network connects together into one virtual campus all offices, laboratories, buildings and wireless hotspots that are located across the various University sites in Tamavua, Nasinu & Pasifika. The University intranet provides access to the Internet and other online resources including Library e-resources/e-journals and electronic Student Information Management System (eSIMS). Other services that are provided to the campus community include e-learning, videoconferencing, academic software site licences and training.

Internet Access

Internet access is available to students at no extra cost. IT labs are in all campuses around Fiji. The opening hours of the Labs are as follows:

Staff Access

The new users should get their User Creation form filled in by HR & signed by HR. only the the account will be created. The following services are accessable by default.

File Share

There are default file shares that are available for personal and professional use. The Personal H Drive – Storage space allocated 4G, Department W Drive – Storage space allocated 10GB, Photo Gallery – Storage space allocated 10GB, Public Folder – storage space allocated 10GB
FNU Forms – storage space allocated 10GB:

Virus Free Environment

Always run the standard anti-virus software provided by FNU.
Never open any files or macros attached to an e-mail from an unknown, suspicious, or untrustworthy source. Never open any files or macros attached to an e-mail from a known source (even a coworker) if you were not expecting a specific attachment from that source. Be suspicious of e-mail messages containing links to unknown Web sites. It is possible that the link is a malicious executable (.exe) file disguised as a link. Do not click on a link sent to you if you were not expecting a specific link. Never copy, download, or install files from unknown, suspicious, or untrustworthy sources or removable media. Avoid direct disk sharing with read/write access. Always scan a floppy diskette/Memory Stick/External Hard Drives/CD-ROM/DVD-ROM for viruses before using it.
